I was talking to the baddest girl on the dance floor outside the club and we talked for like an hour. She was actually really cool and we had mixed talk about who we are and also things that were happening around us.

At one point, I told her it's really nice talking to her and asked if she would wanna talk another time and asked for her number. She told me she doesn't really give her number out, but had Instagram and Snapchat. While I do have these things, I already knew what it meant.

I just told her, look I get it, it's cool, we can just talk in this moment, and I felt proud that I could enjoy the company of someone without feeling too personal about what it meant or feeling like I needed to make it work.

I answer his calls like a month or two later, I keep insinuating that "hey people change and grow and do other shit", he's asked if I hate him and I'm like "nah I just don't like you like you like me", and he thinks it's all playful banter and stuff. He asked if I feel uncomfortable around him, and I'm like "yes". He's kind of a womanizer and he tries to "game" me, I've literally told him, "dude you can't guilt trip me into doing things, stop trying to game your friends it's fucked up".

I'm hanging out with him today just sort of out of obligation since we talked about hanging during quarantine and he's one of the people that kept in touch. I kinda learned he's a sorta shitty person though and I don't really feel like hanging with him. He hasn't done anything to me but some of the shit he admits or jokes about is really offputting. He keeps expecting me to be who I was 5 years ago and not only am I different but also feel less like being as comfortable towards him.

Hopefully he gets the hint tonight lol.

It's not a rule, more like a guideline I guess. A rule to me would imply that it's based off that reasoning, rather than a coincidence for the majority of instances. It's good advice at least.

I'm not saying everyone deserves a death penalty. There are certain crimes in our society that legit change your reputation. We have all decided that some of these people are not in the "tribe". I don't mean stuff like, dealing weed, scamming people with a fake business, getting into a fight, stealing. I mean real sick shit like unprovoked murder, serial killing, cannibalism, anything to do with children, kidnapping, etc.

There are certain things that society has deemed unacceptable, and someone who is willing to break that threshold (or even doing it continuously), yes personally I feel safer with them not around and others that agree they shouldn't be around. Someone who robs a convenient store once has the chance of turning it around. If you rape and kill a child though, you are already so far gone that I would never trust you back in society.

If they are jailed forever I guess that's fine too. They don't need a death penalty but yeah I would want some revenge on them. Why what are your thoughts?

I did read your post already. I read all the posts to see if there was in fact a rule that was obvious but missing. There wasn't.

First off, determining what to say in casual speech based on an entire words etymology is a flawed concept in itself. People shouldn't have to know Anglo-Saxon vs Latinate to know a rule for basic communication.

Secondly, I would need a chart of a lot of words and the exceptions to consider your hypothesis valid. It's already based in something I don't know, yet we know similar rules by being native English speakers. What's up with that?

Third, I know languages have exceptions, but out of the three I've gotten a grasp of, English is by far the one with the most exceptions.

A therapists' effectiveness isn't their experience. There are plenty of 50 year old therapists who suck too.

It's more about how comfortable you feel around them, their style of bouncing things off you, and how well you guys work together.

A 22 year old isn't gonna give you mortgage advice, financial this or that, etc, because you aren't going to the therapist because you're losing your house. You are going to the therapist because of either the impact of losing your home has on you, or the things leading up to you losing the home. Your anger, hopelessness, shame, regret, etc. Your pattern of thought processes that make you regret your decisions.

Obviously, having more life experience behind someone's words makes you trust it more, but you also don't know where that therapist has been or comes from, they could be perfect for what you need. It might be worth opening your mind a little. At worst, you find someone else.

There's no real fun to hypothesizing wishes when you suspect they'll bite you in the ass at the first opportunity.

I'm not even necessarily talking about the wish scenario, it was just the most common loophole for the most common question like this, I was addressing the behavior moreso.

Also, if you have trust issues from a fictional genie in a fictional scenario, maybe take a breather and just run with your imagination? Unless the prompt says "this genie will look to corrupt your wishes", there's no reason to assume otherwise.

This is kinda what I mean. Closing loopholes is the objectively obvious thing to do. Do you know anyone that wants loopholes? It's not business advice for a car or house deal or something; that's when that kind of advice helps.

The point someone would ask you a fantasy question like this (or a 'would you rather') is to hear your interesting fictional decision in your life and compare it with others/their own thought process.

If someone asked me "what's the first thing you're going to do in Italy", yeah obviously "get off the plane" is the first thing I'm going to do, but they're not asking that. I obviously need to get off the plane to do anything else. They are asking me what I'm choosing to do first.

It just comes off as smart alec-y and it misses the fun of hypothesizing stuff like this.

The whole point of these fun fantasy scenarios, picking between one and the other, limited choices etc, is to think about what your priorities are and talk about them.

OF COURSE if people could, they'd have unlimited wishes, or both the superpower and the money, etc. The point isn't for you to be some loophole pseudo-expert like a little kid trying to cheat in a board game. "There's nothing in the rules that says I can't turn off the lights during your turn". Yeah that's true but it defeats the whole point of the game. We're not playing "who can think of ways to ruin this game the most", we're playing a game.

I've never once seen an answer like that and thought the person was clever. It's like they're playing their own game of feeling clever for themselves. No shit people would wish for unlimited wishes, the whole point of asking is for you to make a decision. Just play the game.

The difference between Bernie and Trump aside from politics, and a lot of other things, is that Bernie isn't a multimillionaire and he also refused any donations from large corporations or large amounts, did not object the 2016 election results, and did not play dirty in his primaries (rather he was on the receiving end from other Democrats). Trump has a lot of money to fund his wealth, but when it comes to donations, why does he present them in such sketchy ways? If he's confident about his group, he doesn't need to try to make it into a cult. The donation pages are sketchy af. The level of fandom of Trump, I mean it's feverish. How can you really think one person can do no wrong? We got rid of kings a while ago, both good and bad, because we realize that nobody is perfect and one person shouldn't rule.

Trump has a history of swindling and embezzling, to think that he is there for you is exactly the same reason he has been such a successful swindler. He makes everyone feel as though his way is the best but he just wants your money to do his own private shit with. It's like a serial cheater telling you that you're the one. He tells that to everyone.

First a stern talking to: son I am disappoint, it is not right to let out your frustration onto other people and harm them, you need to start knowing better otherwise here's what it's going to look like (getting pulled out of class, no time with friends, etc), no video games for quite a while, must make it up to grandma.

Then trying to figure out why he did it. Bullying at school, angry at grandma for something else, etc and try to hear the insecurity underneath to deal with the source.

Finally, the steps he needs to make to make it better. Follow new grounded conditions, follow respect for grandma and others, utilize new strategies to deal with anger (talking about it, deep breaths, taking space, etc). Once he's able to consistently show me that he's committed to making it better, reintroduce fun/warmth/luxuries.

I think the only caveat I'd give is that it should be legal to be drunk in car without operating it. People should be allowed to sleep/kill time in the car to wait until safe levels. I think it's dumb you can get charged for DUI by just sitting in your car drunk.
